Welcome to The Salsa Walk

​Where we walk from Chuy's in Selma, TX to Chuy's in Austin, TX.  This is either a 50K, 100K, or 200K walking only endurance challenge. We walk for Salsa, Beer, and Great Conversations.

History:  

    

“Walking isn’t that hard. Hell, I could walk to Austin from here.”  This was the statement that started it all.  Now, annually we make the trek.  If you think running 100K is rough, you ain’t seen nothing till you’ve tried to walk it.

 

General Information:

 

50K - Plato Niño

This event starts at the Chuy's on Barton Springs Rd in Austin Texas. It will start at 1PM Saturday March the 9th. You will walk from here to the Chuy's in San Marcos. Chuy's will be closed by the time you get there. You will start with the 100K walkers and be joined by the 200K walkers. It will take you approximately 12 hours to walk 50K. How you get back to your car is your problem.

100K - Plato Regular

This event starts at the Chuy's on Barton Springs Rd in Austin Texas. It will start at 1PM Saturday March the 9th. You will walk from here to Selma. You will start with the 50K walkers and be joined by the 200K walkers. It will take you approximately 23 to 26 hours to walk 100K. How you get back to your car is your problem.

200K - Plato Grande

This event starts at the Chuy's in Selma Texas. It will start at 8AM on Friday March the 8th. It will take about 24 hours to walk to Austin. You will have a few hours to sleep and we will start again with the 100K and 50K walkers at 1PM. It will take about 55 hours or to complete this event. You can leave your car in Selma at the Chuy's. This will be the ultimate suck fest. I can promise you that.

 

Rules:

 

  1. All participants must start and finish together.

  2. You may only walk.

  3. Running is not allowed.

  4. Sticks are allowed.

  5. Headphones and music are allowed, but you’ll miss out on all the great stories.

  6. You are responsible for your own transportation if you decide to retire from the walk.

  7. There will be approximately five scheduled stops for food and water resupply.

  8. Reflective vest, blinkie, and headlamp are required.

  9. Event organizers will not provide any support. Bring your own money for food and water.

  10. No umbrellas may be used.

 

Finishers: All finishers will receive, in the mail, a finishers patch, and certificate suitable for framing.
